A replacement anionic PAM should work with the preparation and dosing system the plant can actually use. Similar powder labels do not guarantee the same stock-solution behaviour or delivery at a pump setting. Check practical compatibility before interpreting a treatment difference as a grade advantage.
State the existing preparation constraints
Record powder feeder or product-form configuration, make-down water, concentration, wetting method and available aging time. Include peak solution demand rather than only normal tank volume. A product requiring a different preparation route may be a possible conversion, but it is not an equivalent drop-in purchase. Measure delivery with the candidate solution
Calibrate actual feeder mass and solution-pump output safely under representative conditions. Keep water and product inputs documented. Review injection and floc handling
Map dilution, injection, mixing and transfer before the separator. Poor distribution or unreviewed shear can defeat a suitable candidate. Avoid adjusting product, concentration and mixer conditions simultaneously without recording the method. Otherwise the result cannot establish whether the polymer or the altered system produced the apparent improvement.
Include required changes in purchase approval
Retain tested concentration, preparation time, pump delivery and separator results with candidate identity. If additional solution volume, tanks or other changes are needed, include their scope and responsibility separately from product price. Define first-delivery receiving and a controlled changeover. A lower unit price is not sufficient justification if the existing system cannot prepare and deliver the candidate throughout normal demand.
Record the purchase decision
Complete the following checks with actual measurements, observations or an agreed document reference. Keep an untested condition visible as a limitation rather than assuming equivalence. The candidate code, sample identity and trial method must remain attached to the decision so purchasing and operations approve the same product and duty.
